About Women Of Project Management

Women Of Project Management (WoPM) is the premier professional network dedicated to supporting, empowering, and advancing Black women in the field of project management. Founded by Asya Watkins in 2015, WoPM addresses the significant underrepresentation of Black women in the industry, who make up only 7% of project managers. WoPM provides its members with access to exclusive resources, professional development opportunities, and a vibrant community of like-minded women. Through its signature events, educational programs, and strategic partnerships, WoPM is committed to fostering leadership, innovation, and career growth. With a mission to create lasting impact, WoPM continues to elevate and champion the voices and careers of Black women in project management, building a stronger and more diverse industry.

A Note From The Founder

Creating Women Of Project Management is my love letter to Black women in project management leadership. Throughout my career, I've experienced the unique challenges of being both a woman and a Black woman in this space—two very different perspectives that often overlap but aren't always acknowledged. As a Black woman, I’ve navigated an industry where our voices were rarely in the room, and our contributions were often overlooked.

Women Of Project Management is my way of breaking those barriers. I wanted to create a safe, empowering space where both identities cannot only coexist but thrive—it’s about building a platform where Black women in this industry can lift each other up, share their wins, and inspire the next generation to aim even higher.
