I am most proud of the fact that I have had a very successful 20-year Project Management career on my terms. Most people want to move up in management with aspirations of being a Director, VP, and eventually in the C-Suite. Although I have always been identified as an ideal candidate and courted for executive management, I have never wanted that. I am proud that I was able to define my own definition of success. I prefer innovative projects, challenging initiatives, and finally, I love cultivating the careers of others my way. It also makes me chuckle that I’ve been in IT Project Management all this time with a Journalism Degree. Ha.

Creating your own path in corporate America on your own terms and being extremely successful at it is definitely a big flex. All of Tamara’s accomplishments as an IT project manager with Journalism degree is proof that there’s no one single way to get into project management. There are many paths to this career including hard work, continuous education and networking with the right individuals.

Basically, you need to be in the building on November 12th in Atlanta, GA at the beautiful Starling hotel. Get your tickets to the Women of Project Management conference today to be sure you have a chance to meet Tamara McLemore and hear her speak!
