Unleashing Your Inner Bad Bitch with Dr. Syreeta Bond

The world of project management is dynamic and ever-changing. When deadlines are serious and challenges are inevitable, the need for a guide that will help to revolutionize the way you approach leadership and project management is so necessary.

I had the extreme pleasure of connecting with Dr. Syreeta Bond, a seasoned project manager and brilliant mind behind the upcoming book, “Unleashing Your Inner Bad Bitch”.

It was crystal clear from our conversation that this was more than just a book, it’s an in-depth look inside of Dr. Syreeta’s journey in project management; her challenges, triumphs and lessons learned. Read more of her journey below.

Tell me about yourself and why you wanted to write this book.

I am Dr. Syreeta Bond. @thefashionablepmp, Global Project Manager for Apple, where I handle new product introductions and launches. I’m a mom, wife, fashion owner and now Author.

We as Black and Brown women go through so much at work. I had a pretty significant and traumatizing experience while working overseas and being the only Black and American woman. I wanted to go ahead and just write a book about it and how you can really tap into those project management skills to help make your work life better. Because if it wasn't for project management, I wouldn't be as organized in life as I am now.

I love how project management can be used in every facet of life.

How did you come up with the title and what is your definition of a bad bitch?

I have so many people seeking my guidance and always asking, “My God, how you do it? How do you stay on point with everything?” In this book, those people and many more will realize, I be going through it too! But in the midst of it all, I’m able to keep a level head and own my stuff.

This helped me come up with the title; I had to think of how I refer to myself when I’m able to overcome challenges and stay on point- I'm a bad ass bitch! My definition of a bad bitch is an acronym:

B-brave A-ambitious D-determined

B-bold I-intelligent T-talented C-creative H-heroic.

What was your favorite part of this book?

The cover! And the entire book is my favorite!

If you were to write a spin off about a character in your book which character, would it be?

Actually, I would love to have a spin off show produced by Issa Rae. A show or movie about my experience in Dubai. Issa, holla at ya girl!

Because now, I’ve been seeing a lot of interviews with Black people on podcasts coming out about how they lived and/or worked in Dubai and what their experience was. And I'm just like, where the fu(k was you at when I was there! LOL

What was the most challenging part of writing this book?

Editing! It took 4-5 months to write the book. First round of editing was tough, second round is even tougher. It’s a lot to write a book! My book is non-fiction with a tiny bit of fiction; with that, you have to tap into a different level of creativity.

What impact do you wish to make with this book?

I just want to help all women. However my book is geared towards Black and Brown women across every industry, not just project management. I want to make a positive impact on the industry. If you ever need something to bring you back, get you out of a slump or funky feeling, you should understand that everything is temporary and let this book be your guide to bouncing back
