LIVE Member Check-In - June Highlights!

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past 60 days, you should know that Women of Project Management has live check-ins for members each month! During the call each month, members can expect community updates, insights from established project managers, a chance to connect with other members, and much more!

This is our dedicated time as a community to check in with the Founder Asya Watkins as she gives us the tea on all things upcoming within the membership. Below are highlights from our June check-in!

Women of PM Conference

Who else is super excited about the Women of Project Management conference?! This is the first conference of its kind and I’m sure we all want to be a part of this history. Tickets will be on sale starting tomorrow, July 1st - July 8th for members only. After that, tickets will be open to non-members. This is a professional conference so don’t be shy about sending your employer an ROI; we’ve already created the template, all you have to do and fill in the blanks and submit.

There are currently 5 key topics to be covered including Bringing 'Black Girl Magic' to Male-Dominated Industries: Tech, Construction & More! I’m especially excited about this topic because I’ve always been the only Black woman and woman in general in my professional experience. It definitely made me question whether I was capable of doing the work or not. The other topics are just as insightful, and seven speakers have already been confirmed!

We’re also launching an app for the conference that will be available once you’ve purchased your ticket. The app will act as a one-stop-shop for all the little details to make this experience special.

Featured Speaker - Nicole Jones, CAPM

Nicole Jones was such a breath of fresh air as she kept it too real while discussing her journey from a corporate project manager to an entrepreneur. Last week Nicole launched her 1-day only PM Boss program which covered How PM Professionals Can Pivot Into Entrepreneurship and Start Their Own Agency. Attendees were taught how to get started, how to advertise, how to price services and more. This fall, her 3-month accelerator will guide project managers to start their own consultant practice. The offer is exclusive to Women of Project Management members.

Member Q&A

My favorite part of the membership calls is where members can share achievements, goals, ask questions and connect. All of our members have very unique stories and professional experiences. One question, in particular, stood out from this call; a member asked how to get over imposter syndrome. Even though she had the experience and was doing the work, she still felt imposter syndrome in her role. Most of us can relate as we step into a new role that we’re obviously qualified for; but, not having had the exact title in previous roles may cause head spins around being able to meet expectations.

Outside of the informed answers received during the call, we also have a video specifically on Imposter Syndrome linked below. Haja Tunkara and Women of Project Management Founder Asya Watkins have a conversation on what imposter syndrome is and what to do to get over it.
