How do you use Project Management in your current role?

I used my project management skills to build this community of women and women of color in project management. I'm also a practicing Pharmacy Project Manager for a top healthcare organization working with amazing clients!

Where are you located?

I'm located in Atlanta, Georgia, however, I connect women in Project Management all over the world - from Atlanta to Johannesburg to London and beyond.

What is the best career advice you've ever received?

I don't know about the best advice I've received, but I try to remind myself daily to run my own race. My definition of success has changed over the span of my career, so I remind myself not to compare myself to someone else's success and focus on my definition of success.

What is your definition of success?

Earlier in my career my definition of success was to climb the corporate ladder. I've found great success in my career, however, now my definition of success is to position myself to have a healthy work/life balance.


Aside from business, tell us more about you?

I'm married to a self-proclaimed 'World's Greatest Dad' (seriously, he bought the shirt and revealed it in the delivery room right before I delivered our son). He's also a Tech Guru and a supportive husband.

We have a high-energy toddler (MJ) that keeps us busy and a 10 year old rescue puppy named Odie.


What is the one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

I passed the PMP® (Project Management Professional) Exam 3 weeks before I delivered our son.

What is most important to you?

Balance. I value my family, I value my career, I value my faith, but in order to be great at all of them - I have to have balance.



What is your definition of work-life balance?

My definition of work-life balance is spending quality time with my family, working on my career & business, as well as making sure I have me time. In order to work towards my definition of work/like balance, I am very aware of how I spend my time. I live by my calendar and I make sure my schedule accounts for both business, family, & me time!

How do you de-stress from work?

I'm an avid reader. And when I say "reader", I mean I listen to audiobooks as I'm driving my son to school and cleaning up around the house. I "read" about a book a week. If I need some inspiration, I read an inspirational book that week. If I just need a mental escape I read a biography - I'm always curious about what makes other people tick - everyone has a story!
