Wins, Failures, and Passing the PMP® Exam

6 Years Ago Today.

6 years ago today, I waddled myself into a testing exam facility at 9 months pregnant and passed the PMP® Exam.

2 Weeks Prior

2 weeks prior to passing the PMP® Exam, I went into false labor on the day my exam was scheduled.

3 Years Prior

3 years prior to that, I had failed the PMP® Exam, and would go on to fail the exam 2 more times. As I pause to reflect on this journey, it is amazing how much this was a blessing. I didn’t know this version of me existed 6 years ago.

I experienced every emotion of trying and failing at a goal. I gave up on this goal for years, only for it to find me once again. These failures lead me to create Women Of Project Management (www.WomenOfPM.com) to support women & women of color in the project management industry in hopes of supporting women globally on their Project Management journey.

Fight For Your Goals.

Today, as I reflect on this milestone, I’m reminded of this past week’s theme from my hot yoga class. The theme was ‘Fighting for your liberation’ and how with anything we want to achieve in life that creates those shifts usually requires us to fight for our liberation, and it starts with breaking through mental barriers, letting go of self-sabotage, and accomplishing our goals.

Give Yourself Grace.

My challenge to you: As the world shifts around us, take a moment to pause, to give yourself grace, to reflect on a goal that you may have abandoned. If it is a goal that still tugs at your heart, start pursuing it, even its baby steps.

Fight for your liberation my dear, fight for your goals, you never know how it may shift your world in the most beautiful of ways.
