Meet Your Speaker - Ordonna Sargeant

The Women of Project Management Conference is almost here and tickets are selling fast! This is your chance to be face to face with the Women of PM community and other amazing women ready to network and learn from one another. Our amazing group of speakers are industry leaders who are so excited to spread the knowledge they have gained over the years.

I’m super-duper excited to meet speaker, Ordonna Sargeant! She is an expert in topics such as Project Management fundamentals and Agile Development. She has over 15 years of experience as a project and program manager. She manages system and software implementations and Information Technology (IT) development. Ordonna studied at the illustrious HBCU Hampton University where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts. She also earned a Master of Public Administration from Metropolitan College of New York, where she serves as an Adjunct Professor.

Learn more about her journey to the profession in the video below!

Ordonna recently accepted a position as a Technical Program Manager at Twitter and formerly served as the Director of Program Management at Wunderman Thompson in NY. Her project management career is a huge flex to say the least. Not only is she a Project and Program Manager, she’s also a certified Scrum Master.

Through her website, she teaches women of color how to become leaders in project management and position themselves for success. She’s able to accomplish this through her services in one-on-one coaching, providing resume critique and templates. I really love this because there are so many women of color including myself at one point, who feel like there isn’t really a place in project management for them. It almost seems unattainable because it’s a male dominated role. Giving back to her community in this way is so dope - it’s already a lot to be in a project or program management role, so to add coaching Black women in this industry to the list is amazing.

Ordonna is also very active on social media! Her instagram handle @ablackpmp is entertaining and extremely helpful for anyone looking to break into project management. She shares daily tips and tricks on how to be successful in project management and different PM certifications.

We asked Ordonna what she was most proud of in her career and she said,

What an amazing accomplishment! Yall, this is the energy we’re giving at the Women of Project Management conference on November 12th! You’ll have a chance to meet Ordonna and hear her speak. No matter where you are in your career, there’s something to learn from her years of expertise in the profession.

Here’s a fun fact from Ordonna I think we all can appreciate!
